What is IFTTT?

Let me show you a short description of what IFTTT does and how it's principles work. According to Wikipedia: "IFTTT is a free web-based service that people use to create chains of simple conditional statements, called applets. An applet is triggered by changes that occur within other web services such as Gmail, Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest. An applet may send an e-mail message if the user tweets using a hashtag or to copy a photo on Facebook to a user's archive if someone tags a user in a photo IFTTT is an initialism for If This Then That."

What does that mean for FussBot?

FussBot can be used to trigger IFTTT applets. There are several different endpoints (triggers) available which can be used for certain events. Remember the IF THIS THEN THAT principle. Let me give you some examples:

  • If a new stream starts, post a message on Twitter
  • If somebody subscribes to your channel, post his name to Discord
  • If FussBot bans somebody, send me an email with his name and channelid

How to get started

  • Register on IFTTT.com

If you never used IFTTT before, you will need to create a new account: https://ifttt.com/join

  • Get your IFTTT token

To enable FussBot to trigger applets, you need to get your IFTTT token and enter it in FussBot. Visit IFTTT Maker Webhooks and click the "Documentation" button.

A message on this site will say "Your key is:". Copy your key and paste it to FussBot (Settings -> Authentication -> IFTTT token) and hit save.

  • That's it!

You can now head over to our "Setup an applet" guide to proceed.
